I had an affair that began over three years ago. I told my husband after the affair had been going on for one year. The affair continued, on again, off again, for another year. When my husband discovered that the affair had not ended, he told his family. He also told the wife of the other man. I kissed my children in their sleep and left for a few days to reveal the affair to my parents. Even after the blow up when our families became involved, I struggled with remaining faithful to my husband. Behind lies and pain, guilt and fear, I made many more contacts with this person. I loved our children, I loved my husband as a "friend," but I wasn't "in love with him" any longer. I loved another man. Everything fell into place allowing us to go. The kids were taken care of and, financially, it just worked out. With a sick pit in my stomach, but desperate for something, anything.I said, "Let's go!" LovePath 911 was very real, raw, and opened our eyes to how common our situation is, as well as other couples' struggles in marriage. We were not the only ones going through this, nor was I the only desperate person in the group. I wasn't the only one there who had reached a point of giving up on their marriage for whatever reasons. The group attending the seminar with us became our support. I learned, personally, some really hard facts, statistics and tried and true things that began to convince me of why the "grass wouldn't be greener." I learned about lifelines to hold onto while God continued to work in my husband and me. LP911 opened up communication lines that had been lost or had never been present between us. The main thing I got out of the weekend was a greatly increased commitment to stay in the marriage. It reconfirmed for my husband that he had to be a safe place for my confessions. It increased my vision for how we could both still live out our "dreams" together and with our children. Our marriage and relationship is sooo much better now! I actually want to be in the marriage. I have a hope and a new love growing on solid foundations with my husband. Both feet are in the same boat instead of walking the fence. It isn't "just for the children." We had to make some radical changes, and I had to make some radical boundary building choices.
